GRAHAM celebrates IIP double

GRAHAM celebrates IIP double image

We are proud to announce that Investors in People (IIP) has reaffirmed our “excellence” in people management with the re-award of both Platinum and Health & Wellbeing accreditations.

Reaccreditation to the prestigious standards is recognition of our innovative, world class employee development practices, which make GRAHAM a great place to work.

IIP is the international standard for people management, defining what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively to achieve sustainable results.

IIP Platinum is the highest level of achievement and is only awarded to 2% of organisations.

We are also among an even smaller number of organisations to simultaneously hold IIP Platinum and Health and Wellbeing standards. Notably, in 2018, we were named as the inaugural winner of the IIP Excellence in Health and Wellbeing Award, an international accolade across all industries.

Due to Covid-19, the latest IIP reassessment process was delayed, while the review, involving a comprehensive audit of our business as well as detailed interviews with staff, was conducted virtually.

IIP stated that we should be “commended” for our “improved performance” from the last audit in 2017.

Among the key findings were:

  • We improved our score by eight points in comparison to the last audit (2017) while increasing our headcount by 33% (336 people)
  • Performance increased or remained steady across all of the nine Indicators and 27 themes
  • We have an embedded culture of ownership, empowerment and trust
  • The GRAHAM Academy demonstrates a best practice approach which has been recognised across the industry
  • Continuous improvement is a key focus for GRAHAM
  • GRAHAM involves its people when looking to future challenges and markets, and people feel connected, trusted and engaged

Commenting on our dual reaccreditation Michael Smyth, GRAHAM HR Director, said:

“At GRAHAM, we know that it is our people who are the foundation of all our success. Through listening to and building a positive partnership with our employees, we have been able to develop and implement innovative, world class people practices which make GRAHAM a great place to work.
“We are delighted that our forward thinking, collaborative approach has received this independent recognition of our drive for people excellence.
“Investors in People enables us to benchmark ourselves against the best in the business on an international scale. The great news is that these results show that our achievement is not just within construction, but that we are leading the way across all industries. That’s something to celebrate and, while we may pause momentarily and reflect on this achievement, our ambition is always to progress forward, trailblazing for our employees.”

Speaking on the Health & Wellbeing standard, Michael added:

“We remain one of a small number of organisations to hold both awards simultaneously. This is a tremendous achievement. I would note that Wellbeing is never viewed as an ‘add-on’ to our people strategy. In fact, we believe that by valuing individuals and promoting a culture of wellbeing, people respond positively, allowing them to thrive and achieve personal and professional success.”
