The GRAHAM M11 Junction 7A team has been praised for its “generosity and green credentials” following the donation of wood chippings that will be used to improve the church gardens of St James, Thorley.

As part of our widening works programme at Gilden Way (B183), we had to fell a small number of aging trees before converting the bark and branches into wood chippings.

A local resident, Paul, who is responsible for the maintenance of the garden at St James, contacted our team and requested permission to use the material as mulch to help control the weeds in the church grounds.

Proving how “we go beyond”, Brian Leach, GRAHAM General Foreman, liaised with Paul and, subsequently, set about collecting and transporting the large quantity of chippings to the church.

Brian and the team were only too happy to help. He said:

“It was a privilege to support Paul and St James, Thorley in this small way. At GRAHAM, we are committed to supporting the local communities where we operate. So too, we are committed to making a real difference to the environment. Collecting, transporting and unloading the woodchips demonstrates just one example of what GRAHAM stands for, and we are looking forward to seeing the plush gardens at the church benefit from the recycled mulch in the weeks and months ahead.”

Delighted with the volume of chippings, Paul expressed his gratitude. He said:

“On behalf of myself and St James, Thorley, may I acknowledge and thank you, Brian Leach and GRAHAM for organising the delivery of a large quantity of wood chippings to our Thorley site earlier this week. The chippings will be sufficient to mulch our church gardens for years to come and will serve as a reminder of GRAHAM’s generosity and green credentials.”
