Our Facilities Management Team celebrates at the 2018 Skills & Apprenticeships Awards
Our sustained commitment to “providing work place training opportunities and employment” was recognised with the ‘Employer of the Year - ApprenticeshipsNI’ award at the prestigious Belfast Met ‘2018 Skills & Apprenticeships Awards’.
There were also individual awards for our employees emerging talent, as Thomas Page scooped the ‘Learner of the Year for Alarms’ title and George Bennet was named ‘Highly Commended Learner for Alarms’.
Both Apprentices are part of our Fire and Security Team.
The glittering ceremony was held on Thursday 14th June in the Springvale Campus’s e3 Building.
Commenting on the success, Jean Mushet, GRAHAM Facilities Management – HR Manager, said:
“We are delighted to have picked up the three awards in the face of such strong competition from other companies and organisations,” said Jean.
“As a leading Facilities Management provider, we recognise the importance of investing in the training and learning and development of all of our people and in particular our Apprentices.
“We have a strong track record of identifying talent and this is where our FM Academy makes such a significant impact. The FM Academy, which is headed up by Kelly Grant (Training and Development Officer), enables participants to learn new skills and gain nationally recognised qualifications in a very supportive environment.”
Awards Summary
The Belfast Met Awards aim to raise awareness of the benefits of work-based training while promoting work skills training.
They also recognise the success and achievement “of our learners”.
Thomas Page - ‘Learner of the Year for Alarms’
Thomas applied to GRAHAM as a Fire and Security Engineering Apprentice in 2016.
“The first thing that stands out with Thomas is his eagerness to learn. He has a curiosity about the world of fire and security that means that he is consistently delving deeper into his learning. He is already a first class Apprentice and I have no doubt he will be taking a lead part in the fire and security arena in Northern Ireland in the not too distant future,” said Thomas’s Manager Patrick Dickson, Fire and Security Technical Manager.
George Bennett - ‘Highly Commended Learner for Alarms’
George has made a significant impression on GRAHAM colleagues and clients over the last two years.
“His flexibility, attitude and willingness to learn is exceptional and even at this early stage of his career he is an ambassador of professionalism in working with our clients. George has an attitude of whatever it takes to achieve what he has set out to do and I have no doubt he has a fantastic career as a Fire and Security Engineer ahead of him,” said George’s Manager Patrick Dickson, Fire and Security Manager.
