Our FM division has been awarded a “Legionella Management Services” contract by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.

Beginning in March, the contract is for a three-year term (March 2020 – February 2023) with the potential for a two-year extension.

The scope includes Water Monitoring, Water Sampling, Legionella Written Control Schemes, Risk Assessments and Remedial Works, with responsibility for approximately 70 buildings across the council area, ranging from public conveniences to leisure centres.

The borough of Antrim and Newtownabbey covers 274 square miles from the shores of Lough Neagh in the west to Belfast Lough in the east. Over 140,000 people live in the area.

This latest success is a continuation of our longstanding working relationship with the council which stretches as far back as 2008.

Legionella

Legionella is a bacterium that can cause a potentially fatal disease, Legionnaires’ disease (legionellosis).

Legionella is commonly found in warm water containing mechanical equipment such as cooling towers, evaporative condensers, air washers, humidifiers, misters, hot water heaters, spas, fountains, and plumbing fixtures.

Planned Legionella management services accurately check for these bacteria in order to prevent disease, and to ensure the health and safety of facilities for staff, visitors and occupants.
